![]() Graves revised Good-Bye to All That in 1957 at the request of an American publisher. His suffering shows in the disjointed methods he usedcombining excerpts from letters, poems by himself and others, army commands and ramblings to create a sense of the disorder he had felt since his time in battle. The book was published in 1929, more than ten years after the war's end, at a time when, like many writers who had lived through the war, Graves was still suffering from the trauma of fighting and was angry about the whole concept of war. Graves' factual tone makes the remarkable seem unremarkable and the ordinary seem well worth examining. The descriptions of battle are horrifying, and the descriptions of military bungling and pomposity are darkly amusing. ![]() ![]() There were many fine, powerful memoirs published about the First World War, and Robert Graves' Good-Bye to All That is considered to be one of the most honest and insightful. ![]() Review of honor by thrity umrigar6/27/2023 ![]() ![]() Honor is the pick for January 2022 and I was lucky that my library had the e-audio available with no waiting. Last year I had the goal of reading more from Reese Witherspoon’s book club, but mostly struck out. We in American DO still have freedom of religion, and freedom of speech, in spite of efforts from both sides of the political spectrum to encroach on them. We have control, oh sorry! We have “agency” over our lives (that means we have choices we can actually make). ![]() Battered women in America can generally find help–their plight is taken seriously. American women are usually taken seriously when they report rape –even rape in marriage. ![]() I also wish American women could appreciate how amazingly privileged they are! We can dis our men all we want, but most of them do try to help at home, do spend time with the kids, and do appreciate their wives. I love to read stories set elsewhere–in this case India. ![]() ![]() It honors those that the people have already honored. A good marriage stephen king book review6/26/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() After sifting through multiple scripts, directors and production companies, the Five Nights at Freddy's movie finally left development hell with unimaginable hype as the horror movie got closer to completion. It was in 2015 that news of a big screen adaptation of Cawthon's games made headlines, but it wouldn't be until 2023 that it began filming with its stars, Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard. Focusing on a haunted pizzeria franchise, Five Nights at Freddy's popularized the concept of animatronic horror, paving the way for films like M3GAN, Willy's Wonderland and The Banana Splits Movie. However, as a master of horror, there's something about Stephen King's stories that make them endearing, and as odd as it may seem, shades of King's best works are present within Blumhouse's Five Nights at Freddy's movie.Ĭreated by Scott Cawthon and released in 2014, Five Nights at Freddy's was an overnight video game success that launched a multimedia franchise. Parents need to know that Stephen King's A Good Marriage is a creepy horror thriller based on the prolific author's novella, which he adapted himself into the film's screenplay. And sometimes, a movie can struggle to be scary or engaging, especially when it comes to more offbeat concepts. ![]() Morning Comes Softly by Debbie Macomber6/26/2023 ![]() ![]() This paperback book is in great condition and weighs 6.6 oz.
